Whether you knit, crochet or weave, we invite you to experience the luxury of using this 100% pure llama and alpaca yarn. Once you feel this beautiful naturally colored or dyed yarn caress your fingers, and see the lovely products you produce with it, you'll always want to have some on hand!

Llama and Alpaca fiber is unique in several ways. Most noticeable, it does not contain lanolin that is found in sheep wool. The fleeces do not need to be scoured to become clean. Many people who have allergies to sheep wool are able to wear camelid fiber comfortably. Fleeces are found in a beautiful array of natural colors that can also be over dyed for something more colorful. Our hand dyed yarn is truly one of a kind! With proper skirting and preparation, camelid fiber is very soft and a joy to work with.

The Midwest Fiber Company offers yarn that is 100% alpaca or a blend of alpaca and llama. All the fleeces used for our yarn have been grown by Midwestern camelid farmers. We also use fiber mills in the USA to process the fleeces into yarn.

The yarn on this page is machine spun, packaged as 2 oz. skeins (approx. 105 yards).

The picture at left shows just a few of the natural colors available. Llama and alpaca fiber grows in about 22 natural colors, ranging from white to black, with various shades of tan, brown and red in between.

Natural colored yarn price is $9.00 for black, $8.00 for other colors, per 2 oz. skein.

If those 22 colors do not give enough variety for your project, try some beautifully dyed yarn. This example has been dyed a rich Royal Blue color. Be sure to order enough for your project, because dye-lots will vary in intensity.
